- How did you get into CR&S, and why did you choose this profession?
I got into Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CR&S) driven by a deep-seated desire to make a tangible difference in the world. After witnessing firsthand the struggles of the homeless and those battling addiction in Detroit, I felt a calling to dedicate my life to uplifting others. This profession allows me to blend my passion for community service with strategic leadership, creating sustainable solutions that not only address immediate needs but also pave the way for long-term change.
- What are the most essential skills for working in CRS?
Working in CR&S demands a unique blend of empathy, strategic thinking, and resilience. Empathy helps us understand the struggles of those we aim to help, while strategic thinking enables us to design effective programs and initiatives. Resilience is crucial, as the journey is often fraught with challenges. Effective communication and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders are also vital, ensuring that our efforts are cohesive and impactful.
- What advice would you give to others on getting into CR&S?
To anyone aspiring to enter the field of CR&S, I would say: start by immersing yourself in community service. Understanding the grassroots level challenges is crucial. Build strong relationships and network with like-minded individuals and organizations. Continuous learning and adaptability are key, as the field is ever-evolving.
